Bill was my first boss and mentor when I joined the Department of Transportation as Public Transit director in 1974. His professionalism and sound advice kept me focused on the department's priorities and helped shape my career (which is not over yet!) It was a pleasure to have worked for him. Best wishes to his wonderful family.
Ann, Ann Trent & Family:
Terry and I will miss Bill's visits to Roanoke, Va. He was a very close personal friend. I always looked forward to our getting together and our Boy Scout talks. We have lots of fond memories of a very special man.
Ray and Terry Eades - Roanoke, Va.
Uncle Bill was always a big part of my summer fun time while I was growing up. I got to come to Raleigh and spend the week with Buzz & Sissy. Uncle Bill was always always calm and understanding with everything we wanted to do. He lived his life doing the right thing and setting the example for how we should all live our lives. If only everyone had his moral and social values, This world would be as God had planned. I will truely miss you Uncle Bill
Ann,Ann Trent, Buzz and the entire Caddell Family....we would like to express our deepest sympathy in the loss of a wonderful husband, dad, and "pop pop". What wonderful memories you have as you go through the days, weeks and years ahead. We were very blessed to have been your neighbor for the last 31 years and will miss Bill as much as the family. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you in the future....
Prayers and Sympathy to all,
Jim and Lynda Weaver
I can still hear the way Bill would always greet me with a deep, bellowing "Helooo, Frank". Always so warm and welcoming. He was always so kind to me, and everybody else he came in contact with. There are certain people that we are blessed by for simply having known, be it for an hour or a lifetime. Bill Caddell was one of those people and will be greatly missed.
Bill Caddell was my boss for several years when I worked with the Dept. of Transportation. Did not keep in touch after I moved, but I do remember he was a wonderful person to work for. God bless the family.
I am blessed to have been a co-worker with Mr. Caddell at DOT (so many years ago). He was a wonderful man, an outstanding professional, and a true southern gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Anne - I know this deep hurt, and I know the Lord will meet you in your grief. We are praying for you!
"Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know his love, his heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From his own fullness all he takes away.
Be still, my soul: the hour is hast'ning on
When we shall be for ever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last."
