It is with deep regret that I learned of Bill's passing. He was a kind friend, always with a smile during our 4 years at West Point. I hope that his family will accept my deep condolences.

I am sorry to hear of Bill's passing. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Marsh family. As another 1974 West Point classmate and fellow H-4 member, I also attest to Bill's character and friendship. He was always kind and never a phony. He lived the ideals of leadership and earned the respect of all who knew him. May God bless such men.

To the Marsh Family,

I was deeply saddened to read of Bill's passing today from AOG. Bill was a great guy and full of life at West Point. He always dreamed of going into the Marines and talked about it to us all in H-4 on a daily basis in our first class year. He was truly a friend to everyone and he will be sorely missed.
Looking at the photo gallery, it looks like Bill lived a wonderful life with his family and friends. I was glad to see that both of his kids followed in his footsteps and pursued a military life.
The one picture of him with his buzzed head and all of us around him brought back fond memories. It is just hard for me to imagine that Bill is gone after only 61 years on earth. He left his mark with his smile and positive attitude.
Again, I am very, very sorry for your loss.

Mary Beth and family, my wife and I send our condolences. I enjoyed getting to know and working with Bill over the years. I greatly respected his professional opinion as we worked the difficult process of closing two of the Air Force's massive aircraft depots. I recall that he carried a "stick" on a couple of trips that he eventually crafted into a long bow. He was very passionate about his family, the US Marine Corps, his work, and his hobbies. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. Semper Fi!

To Bill's Family,
I worked with Bill for 12 years until I retired in 2005. He made going to work enjoyable with his sense of humor and laughter, and his displays of being a PROUD Marine. Bill will be missed.

Dear MaryBeth and family,
I worked with Bill for 19 years until I retired in 2010. Have a lot of fond memories of all that time! He always had time to hear you let off steam whenever there was something that set you off in the office. Bill was a caring and compassionate friend and coworker who always had time for you. He will be sorely missed.

Bill and I, both being Marines, would sit and talk about how hard it must be for the Marine Corps to get along without us. One day I told Bill that after my nephew, Devin, graduated from Ohio State he was going into the Marines, as an officer. A few days later Bill walked in with his Dress Blues and asked me to give them to Devin. I presented them, on Bill's behalf, after Devin's swearing in ceremony. They fit him like a glove! I know it made Bill feel good to know his Blues were back in service and being worn by the next generation Marine Officer. Semper Fi Brother, you will be missed.

Bill will always live in our hearts and prayers. My deepest sympathies for the family.

Sympathy goes out to Bill's family and many friends. Everyone in the office could see what an upright and caring person Bill was and I will miss him tremendously. Even as his health was diminishing he took the time to ask about our problems and health concerns. He was one of a kind.

Mary Beth and family
May God provide you new mercies for comfort and strength for each day. And, may you feel God's love even in the midst of grieving. I was Bill's boss for about 6 years in the 2000's…and boy, do I have a treasure trove of memories! In civil engineering terms, Bill was the consummate programmer…he knew the history/precedence and knew how to interpret policy and guidance. Equipped with such knowledge and abilities, Bill successfully led us into unchartered (or grey) areas better than anyone else…and we supported our customers with unique solutions! Of course, he was also famous for some business sayings, like…“Cost, schedule, and performance…pick any two…” Of course, the customer wanted all three, so, we would negotiate from there. Devoted to the nth degree, I remember allowing Bill flexibility during lunch to drive home and tend to his dogs when Mary Beth was traveling on her antique furniture treks. Bill talked often about his daughter and son, their (now) spouses, weddings, and their accomplishments. He loved you and was so proud of you. When Bill turned 50, we decorated his office with ‘appropriate' celebratory props, to include little plastic army men painted in grey…yeah, grey either to commemorate his passion for civil war history or grey to commemorate the dawning of ‘old age' and graying hair…maybe both! I am confident others will be able to share accounts of their encounter with your husband and dad…truly a unique man! Savor the memories, pictures, footage…and, may God refresh you during this difficult time.

Mary Beth
I had the good fortune (and honor) of working with Bill for almost all of the 1990's. He was a very special person, great fun to be around and totally dedicated to the job at hand, both in and outside, the office. He was a good friend.

Although we were not personal friends with Bill we know what a wonderful person he must have been as reflected by his daughter Sarah. We love and admire her and know that Bill and Mary Beth are responsible for this perfect person. Thank you Bill. We believe that you have been an "unique" parent.

MaryBeth & Family, Bill was a giant among men, a true Marine with a heart of gold. I had the honor of working with Bill and learned a ton of knowledge. My father was a Marine so I understood him, it was just like being at home. Bill was a good friend to me and I will miss him. My heart and sympathy go out to you at this time of need. Mary Beth,
Deepest sympathies to you and the family. Bill was a great co-worker and mentor. I will always have fond memories of working with Bill in the late-90's to develop the computer database we continue to use across the Air Force to manage facility projects and requirements. He was one of those great people that worked hard, played hard, and made everyday life...if not more enjoyable, then at least more colorful and memorable! Semper Fi! May God bless you and lift you up.

Mary Beth and Family: My God be with you during this difficult time and after. Bill was my boss a few years back and he was a caring and generous man; especially when my mother became ill and eventually passed away. May you find strength through God!
