Montie & Allene: I thought that I had missed an opportunity to express a thought concerning memories of your dad.

I have one in particular that I want to share when we both at about 15 years. I think that this occurred the week that I had been "excused" from school at MUHS and had run to the Perry's in Cachagua to avoid explaining this to my dad (smoking at school).

I was leading a harnessed work horse from Rancho Carmelo and was at the foot of the Cachagua Grade at the fork in the road. It here that I saw a young man on crutch and we struck up a conver -sation. Allan introduced himself and said that he was going to Jim and Nadine Perry. I asked him if he thought we could get him, broke "laig" and all, up on that work horse. With the horse's cooperation, we did and had a jolly time on our way to the Perry's. Other memories include stories that Al told of unloading cattle from the Island out of WW2 "M Boats" onto the beach near Santa Barbara and his story about how he got his right thumb "buggered up" in a roping accident. Thank you both for letting me chime in late with good thoughts about a man for whom I have affectionate memories. Not my ex- brother in law, but my brother in law.
