Chris, I knew you dad well and loed him dearly. He was such a character and alweys gave me 'Hell'. He couldn;t say 2 sentences without picking at me about something which certainly made for a lot of laughs. I spoke to your dad recently and as always he loved you more than anyone. Allend was exceptionally talented, had a great sense of humor, and was loved dearly by all those who knew him well. He could make ou laugh about just about anything. This world lost a beautiful spirit with the death of our dad. Jan Hardy

Our deepest sympathy to the Tumey family. My dad is a former employee of WAFB-TV and a great fan of Mr. Tumey. He came to our hometown of St. Gabriel to do a story on my dad & his promise of faith and service that he made in WWII. Mr. Tumey was so kind and gracious. He made my dad feel like he was the most important person in the world at that moment. He showed great interest & passion for his talent. Mr. Tumey made everyday life seem like a cultural event. He will be sadly missed.

Thinking of you and your family today and I'm sincerely sorry I can't be there for the service. Want to share something with you. Many times over the years., I told your dad he was every bit as good with feature reporting as Charles Kuralt, of CBS "On The Road" fame. Allen would brush that aside and accuse me of bias, because of our friendship. I'd admit to the bias, but remind him that it in no way changed the facts. He was as good a feature reporter as I've known or seen. I've cherished our friendship for more than 30 years and have had a heavy heart since learning of Allen's death.
God bless you all.

My thoughts and condolences go out to the Tumey family. I had the pleasure of working with Allen during the 80's at KPLC.Easy-going and thoughtful, I never met a person more suited to the type of work they did. Rest in peace, brother and say "Hi" to Charles Kuralt in that big newsroom in the beyond.

My sincere condolences to Allen's family from a fellow-journalist in Baton Rouge. He undertook three ideas I emailed him to be featured, was totally conscientious, and enjoyed it. Twice he was a guest at my church's valentine dinner when the men cook for the ladies. He loved to eat good food, also. Everyone loved him. He was professional but friendly and ultra courteous. Very sweet man. I know you will miss him, and, frankly, I do not know how anyone could have done a better job of Tumey's Travels. May God be with him, and with you.
