Annabelle M. Alquist (Murphy)
Mrs Alquist was my favorite teacher and will always remember what fun I had in her class. She and her family lived across OXOBOXO lake from us and you could always see that there was a croud at her house almost everyday.
My father Dr. Charles Murphy would always say how lucky kids were to have Mrs. Alquist as their first teacher.
Mrs. Alquist was loved by all!
Marjorie Murphy, Maura Murphy Burke and Charlie Murphy Send their love to Mrs Alquist!s family.
I was privileged to be in Mrs Alquist's last kindergarten class before she retired in June of 1981. She told me and my parents that she wouldn't quit until she "had all 5 Rioux's in her classroom." I pretended to serve her a "glass of wine" each morning that school year.....greeting her every morning at the door with a cup from the kitchen area in the back of her classroom. She laughed every morning then proceeded to play the piano and teach us the words to "My Country Tis of Thee." She invited me to her home on Oxoboxo Lake that summer....I was honored! I saw her every Labor day at the Polish Club Picnic and she always remembered me. Love is being sent to her family .....she touched so many lives.
Tom, Butch and Sally
I was saddened to learn of your mother's passing. Annette passed on 7/30/2012, and I wondered at that time how your mom was. I remember a day at the lake ( it must have been 50 years ago ) with the three of you, your mom and Aunt Flo and Uncle Tommy. I will try to contact you by phone. Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
To all the family, friends, and students of Mrs. Alquist I send my deepest sympathies for your loss. She was one of the nicest people I have ever come in contact with as many of you can attest. She taught me how to tie my shoes, my ABC's, how to count, and so many other life lessons in kindergarten. She sang to her class almost daily.Who doesn't remember getting different colored stars stuck to our foreheads by her.She was truly a special person in my life, and I for one will never forget all she did to make me the person I am today.Thank-you Mrs.Alquist.
Butch and Family:
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your mom. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family.
