I have such wonderful memories from all of the years I have known Lorraine and have always felt like part of her family. In spending many visits with her in Kona, what always impressed me was how many, many friends she had. Whether it was "Tightwad Tuesdays", the market or her favorite coffee place, she always knew everyone and was greeted warmly. No shopping trip with her was ever quick because of all the stops to chat with friends.
I miss this very special lady and send warm thoughts to her family.
A few years ago Lorraine and I went to lunch at the harbor in Kona. We had such a nice chat and she shared all sorts of stories with me.
One that I have always remembered was about the time she and a friend went to an event in Kona town. Lorraine drive and the two women parked the car in the public parking area above town. They went to the event and sometime later went back to the car.
As Lorraine looked in her purse she was frantic. Where were the keys? Then the women realized the car was running and the keys were in the ignition. So they got in and drove home.
She said she never told anyone that story.
Lorraine loved Kona and when I drive on Ali'd Drive I always think I shall see her walking along that busy road.
Darlene and Family,
My deepest sympathies on losing your wonderful, gracious Mother.
Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
