Bernie is a great guy that will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I am grateful to have him as a friend. I met Bernie through photography and his business “Photo Reproductions” at 1410 San Marco. Some of my fondest memories are seeing Bernie, Betty, Abe and their little four legged child. As we were both in the photography business, we had a lot in common. It wasn't long before I introduced Bernie to ham radio. In no time he had a 100' tower with antennas on the roof of his business and was talking all over the world. His location was magic as he had best signal on HF in Jacksonville. Bernie decided to sell the business and he and Betty took to the road in their motor home. I think they went just about everywhere in the US and Bernie took his ham radio with him. For years he was the Network Control Station for the RV network. There were hundreds of hams in RVs all over the country that talked on the RV net almost every day. I could always find Bernie as just about all the hams that had RVs knew where he was 95% of the time. Most of the time you could just call him directly. Bernie was very kind and helped out a lot of people. He is a person of principal. He fought and served his country so that many including myself can live in a free country. Bernie was issued the radio call sign (N4GBY) selected by the FCC. He would always end a radio conversation with the special phonetics in his call sign: “God Bless You”. Thank you for everything Bernie and “God Bless You”.
It has been a great joy and pleasure to have been good friends with Bernie and Betty for many years. You will be missed. Rest in peace.
It has been many years, but I remember your Dad and Mom from our High School days.
I was so sorry to see your Dad's passing
I will see you Sunday.
