I taught at Belton High School when Brett graced our halls. I am proud to learn what a wonderful person was. I am deeply saddened by his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the hearts he touched.

Larry, Thank you for taking the time to inform the men of the USS FORRESTAL Association of the passing of Brent Bauer. We will post his Obituary in our newsletter. Brett must have been an outstanding sailor having receive the Sailor of the Day Award while serving aboard USS FORRESTAL. The Association does maintain a list of those FORRESTAL shipmates that have passed away after serving aboard FORRESTAL. We honor our shipmates with flowers each Memorial Day at the Navy Memorial in Washington, DC; each Veterans Day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC and each Veterans Day at USS FORRESTAL pier side at Newport, RI, and each of our annual reunions. This years reunion will be in San Diego, CA.
Thank you, Ken Killmeyer, Historian

Dear Ken, Please visit this memorial website of a 43-year-old young man that served on the U.S.S. FORRESTAL. I didn't know if you have a listing for FORRESTAL personnel that are no longer with us on your website. In the picture tribute, you will see several Navy photos of Brett on the FORRESTAL. I didn't know Brett personally, but I'm best friends with a man (Jamie Young) that worked with Brett when he was an electrician for CEI. I thought someone associated with the FORRESTAL should also know about Brett. Thank you, Larry Garrigus

Although I barely knew Brett, the service this evening was a testament to his spirit and love. The crowd that came to honor him was an amazing sight and truly shows you how much he was liked and how many he touched. You will truly be missed. My condolences go to the Bauer's and to Tracy. God bless all of you.
