Mr Lockhart was my class sponsor in January 1956 and taught me math during our short time together. I really liked him and enjoyed his classes.I don't remember a lot of things that occurred back then, but I certainly have retained my interest in math. God bless him.
Dear Nell, I am thinking of you and the other family members at the loss of your husband and their father. May God grant you strength, peace and comfort.
Out of all the teachers encountered during my 4 years at Allen Park HS, Mr Lockhart was one of only 4 or 5 that I've remembered for all these years. His Physics class teaching style encouraged students to reach and expand beyond the standard text book material -- something that made his class so much more interesting. He was always available for after-class "consultation" on ideas/potential experiments that crossed our minds.
He was definitely one of the HS influences that helped shaped his students future.
He was one my favorite teachers with a great understated sense of humor and he could explain and demonstrate the laws of physics so well. May he rest in peace.
Mr. Lockhart taught me physics and a life lesson. We were required to write out lab reports on the experiments we undertook. I was suspecting that not all the lengthy papers were reviewed. I put a box deep in the report stating "Check this box if you have read this". I got away with it once and showed all my classmates. Next time I did this a whole page was a red box with words "If you ever do this again you will be flunked, check box if you understand." Ron G.
