Douglas Atwood

So many of us became who we are today in large measure for having passed through life touched by Dr. Atwood. As a leader in our profession and as a mentor to so many current leaders he left a mark that will live forever. While his passing will bring many of us together again in sadness, there will also be quite some warmth in our remembrances of his wonderful ways.

Dear Atwood Family,

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Dr. Atwood. I have such fond memories of him and all of you and I thank you for your kindness and friendship over the years. Dr. Atwood and I shared our RL reunions and it was always such a pleasure to see him and Mrs. Atwood at least every 5 years.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Atwood Family,

I was saddened to receive the news of Dr. Atwood's death. What a special person he was not only to his family and co-workers but to his neighbors. I will always have fond memories of time spent in your home with Dr. Atwood and having having lunch with him when he would come up to Milford.
May you know that my love is with you all at this time.

This is a brief statement in honor of my dear colleague Jim Atwood's father, Dr. Douglas Atwood, whom I never had the pleasure of meeting. However, I feel that I must offer this to the family. Dr. Atwood and his wife should be very proud of their son Jim. I have had the pleasure of working with Jim for the past 8 years, and he is one of the most fair minded and non judgemental men I have worked with in my 30 year career in the Broadcast Industry. It is clear that the saying is true, "the branch does not fall far from the tree". Rest in peace Dr. Atwood. You have given much, you have done well and you have earned your rest. I leave the family to read a scripture which is quite appropriate: De. 30:19. With agape love and sympathy, Barbara Barrow-Murray.
