May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
I first met Ed at the Canfor Prince George pulp operation when I worked for the Canfor Pulp sales group. An accomplished engineer with the pulp operation, he became the link between the mill technical group and the pulp sales group. Eventually, he joined the sales group. Ed developed lasting relationships with the customers not only because of his technical knowledge but also because of his genuine and engaging approach with people. Undoubtedly, Ed's involvement is an important legacy in Canfor's success in the market place today.
I extend my sincerest condolences to the family of Ed Barnes. I worked with Ed at Prince George Pulp and Paper from 1974 to 1985. I worked in the Personnel Department and I once travelled with Ed to the University of Waterloo to recruit chemical engineers for our cooperative education programme.
I was working in Administration at the Prince George Regional Hospital when Ed was on the Board. I remember him as a dedicated and kind man who took his responsibilities seriously but who always had a good sense of humour.
