Helen L. Beck

I was a 2nd grade student of Mrs. Beck back in 1994. I'm 25 now, have moved all over the place & still count Mrs. Beck as my favorite teacher. She inspired me to be my best- teaching was definitely her calling & I just felt compelled to leave a little note to the family she left behind. Thank you for sharing Mrs. Beck with all of us students- almost 20 years later, I am still inspired by how caring and loving she was!

Dear Mr. Beck, Brian and Eric,

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Helen's passing. I student taught with Helen at LPC many years ago. From my first day, she inspired me and showed me how to teach with all of my heart. She was a tremendous mentor and helped shape me into the teacher I am today.

I hope Helen is able to get a dance with Patrick Swayze. I'm sure she will freshen up her lipstick first, though.

My heart breaks for all of you. I hope Helen's smile, laugh and giving spirit surround you and give you strength and comfort. My prayers are with all of you!

What a true gift it was to have known Helen Beck. I taught 2nd Grade across the hall from Helen when we first moved to LPC, and I couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. Helen brightened my days and became a wonderful friend. Helen knew how to be that exceptional teacher; she was created that way, and how lucky were the lives and minds she touched. I so admired her creative spin on making learning a memorable experience, and the love that poured out so abundantly for each student. She was an inspiration for me and was "that awesome teacher I had", for so many children. It was during this time that I married and was later expecting my first child. Helen shared my joy and made that time of my life very special, with her belly rubs and "this will be the most GORGEOUS baby ever!" I was so sad to hear of her passing. I pulled out the many pictures of our time together at LPC and was again surrounded by her love and warmth. I feel very blessed to have known her.

To Helen's Family,
As you know, Helen was an amazing woman who brought joy to all she touched. I was with her on Alcott a couple of times, and she always brought a smile to my face with her interactive singing and enthusiastic love of the Red Sox. She was so kind, she once even claimed she would "adopt me". She was always taking care of others and nurturing them with her abundance of love.

I was back in Alcott when she passed. It broke my heart. But, since then and since my release I eat, and I eat without behaviors because I think Helen would have wanted it that way.
Thank you and I am so sorry for your loss.
