Hi Briggs Family,
One of my earliest childhood memories was our trip to Uncle Jack's house in Bryan, TX. On his ranch he had cattle, a horse and of course his birds. I must have only been about 3 years old at the time. I got so excited when I saw the horse! And then he was letting the older kids ride it and I wasn't going to stop asking until I got to go for a ride. Once in the saddle with my red cowboy hat on and my boots…. I never wanted to get off. That was the start of my love for horses. Every time we came to see him, Uncle Jack would always try to have a horse at the ranch for us to ride. I think one time he even borrowed a horse for us.
Our family trips to Texas to see our cousins were some of the best memories we hold dear to our hearts. So it would only be natural that when I started a family of my own that I would share my love for my family in Texas with my family and my daughter.
One of our most memorable trips as a family was to Uncle Jack & Aunt Yoon Sun place on Toledo Bend Lake in Louisiana and fishing on the boat! Regina had been fishing since she was 6 months old, so she was a pro at six years old with her Snoopy lifejacket and Snoopy fishing pool! Regina couldn't real them in fast enough, but she wanted to do it herself and Jack and Yoon Sun were in ahh. You couldn't wipe the smile off of Uncle Jack's face!
At one point Regina could believe how many fish there were and she kept looking over the edge of the boat to see if she could see them all. In her excitement her sunglasses fell into the water and she began to cry. Uncle Jack in his cute witty way said “Well now the fishies can see you better!” and promised her he would get her another pair. He did and then took us to run the cat fish trout lines on the other side of the lake. These cat fish where HUGE and it was soooo exciting to pull them into the boat! And the fish fries were Amazing!
I bet you all didn't know this but growing up I always thought Uncle Jack looked like Elvis!! With his hair slicked back… so handsome! And that devilish smile…. Cracked me up!
Uncle Jack was an amazing, loving, and caring man. We will miss him terribly, but our lives are far more richer because we were blessed to be a part of his.
Love and prayers to each and every one of you!
