James Lyle Baker 1936 - 2012

James Lyle Baker

Saturday, December 01, 2012
I have so many memories of James--our playing baseballball with a ping pong ball, racing one another (I never could beat him) on the streets of Lake Jackson, playing basketball with James and J.T. McLure as our bookends in the middle, making and playing our football game with the cards we got from bubblegum, and on and on and on. The last time I visited with James he posed this question, If I could come back in another life who would I come back as. I replied immediately that I would want to comeback as James Baker's son.

God is beginning to assemble a very good football team with BHS '54 players. King and James are awaiting some others to join him.

O Lord my God, bless the repose of the soul of James Baker and cleans him that he may enter your hevenly kingdom and be with you throughout eternity. Comfort and bless Martha and his family and loved one who morn his death and help all of us understand that James would not choose to come back. --Amen

I am so pleased you shared the photos. I especially enjoyed seeing James as a little guy and in the football and graduation photos as that is how I remember him best. It was also great to see the big hair, Margaret, and the boys when they were babies; then the grandchildrens' photos too. I think the one when he is playing with the cat on his walker shows he never gave up on that fun loving spirit he always had. He seems very serious in all the work photos so you know he took his job with seriously and was such an honest and caring man. I am sorry for your loss and I am sorry I lost all those years while we were living our lives in different parts of the U S of A. May you be blessed by all those who are still here and love you and by the memories you will always share in your hearts and minds. It was good to see Grandma and the brothers and sisters together in those photos too. May you have peace and love to support each other and the gentleness of Christ in comforting one another.

Shea, your father's greatness is seen in the man that you are to your wife, children and friends... I'm so sorry for your loss, but so happy to know how much you loved your Dad and that you had such a great role model in life. You said that he was your hero. To have a father like that is a special gift. My thoughts are with you, dear friend.

Even though I was closer to Margaret because we worked together at the same CPA firm, I always admired Jim because he was an old school Arthur Andersen partner who was tough, but never too busy to help. He has been good to me and I will miss him. Bob and Jeanmarie Stevenson will always remember you Jim.
