Thank you to all who were able to come today and honor my Dad. As kids, we sat transfixed by the war stories Dad traded with his fellow officers and always looked forward to those visits. It was nice to hear some new ones today from his friends. Godspeed Papa.

Bart, what can I say?
I met you when I was 18 and knew you for 52 years. That is a long time.
You are the father of our four womderful children: Brett, Dale, Diana and Kathy. Grandfather to: Joshua, Blake, Liam, Michelle, BJ, Megan, Annika, Natalie. We founded quite a dynasty.
I will miss our friendship, the phone calls and seeing you in California on my visits.
Rest well my friend. I will see you again in heaven.

I always thought Uncle Bart was "cool". I enjoyed going to Placerville to visit Bart and my cousin's. I will miss him.

To the Family and Friends of Bart:

It was an honor and a pleasure to serve with Bart on the Placerville Police Department. Bart came to us from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in 1973. His co-workers and the people of Placerville immediately liked him. He was very dedicated to our profession, He had a terrific sense of humor and a great smile. He charmed the bad guys as well as the good guys.

He loved his family. He was among the "Founding Fathers" of the PPOA Destruction Derby. It was probably Bart who hung the nickname of "Blaze" on me. Forty years later, I am still "Blaze."

We differed on our choice of Sports Teams. He was from Southern California and was a life-long LA Rams Fan. I was for the 49ers. We didn't see each other very often after I moved to Jackson. But I could count on a phone call from Bart whenever the Rams beat my team. There was always lots of good natured kidding.

Bart was a real friend. His family has every reason to be very proud of him. If I ever write a book on my law enforcement career, one whole chapter will be named "BART". Thanks for everything my friend...you will be missed but never forgotten.
