James Curtis Shipman

Thursday, November 07, 2013
Jim was a special man working in a field which required his many gifts. We will never forget the time he offered comfort to our daughter with his great sense of humor. Brandi was a young women dying of brain cancer when the Shipman's, Wrights, and Merritt's decided to take her to the dog races in Coeur d' Alene. Brandi wasn't altogether with it because of her treatment and was quietly sitting at our table. Jim sensing he needed to lift her spirits says, "Hey, Brandi do you see that dog out there doing his business?" Of course Brandi replied, "yes". Well, Jim said, "He is going to be lighter now, so let's go bet on him." Our Miss Brandi who was 23 at the time started to laugh and enjoyed the rest of the evening beyond what she thought possible. Jim's sense of humanity and love of people plus gift of gab moved him right through those glistening gates when he met St. Peter the other day. We will miss him but surely never forget him. God's speed our friend.
