Jane Lewis "Back" (Roberts)
Mrs. Lewis was an amazing teacher. She loved her students and went over and beyond to make learning fun. I will always remember the outdoor learning programs at the park and our trips to the Indian store to get beads and the leather roping to make friendship bracelets. She touched so many lives and I feel blessed to have had her as a teacher. I am so sorry for your loss. Lisa Edwards ( Middle Island, NY)

In the above obituary nothing is said about Jane hosting AFS exchange students from all over the world. I am one of them . I stayed with the Lewis,Malcom, Big Chief, and Jane simply MOM in August 1961.It was one of those unexpected gift life gives you getting to know Mom Jane. She has been close to me over more than 50 years in a way only MOMS that are also FRIENDS can be.I will never be enough grateful to the entire Lewis family and to Mom in particular for the warm hospitality, love care and fun recived by them .Bye Bye,MOM!Giacomo joins me in hugging you and the entire family very tightly.
I am saddened to hear of Mrs. Lewis's passing. She was my fourth grade teacher at Southbay Elementary and I might add my favorite teacher. She had me draw the covers to our school paper and always made me feel like an artist! I am now 53 and live in Fl. But I have thought about her many , many times thru out the years. an angel on earth , now an angel in heaven.
I don't remember even half the teachers I had throughout the years, but I remember Miss Lewis. She was a great teacher, very loving and compassionate. R.I.P. xoxo
