I knew Joan briefly at when we worked as cabin maids in Grand Canyon and then I stayed one night in her home at Yale Ave. and we went skiing. I enjoyed knowing her at this time very much. Helen Clegg Broadbent in Lindon, UT

Miss Amott Was my 3rd grade teacher at Forest Elementary in 1956. from that point she taught most of my Brothers and sisters. But she was always fair and kind , but firm. I remember when she tied me in my seat to impress upon this active child why I needed to stay there and not wander around the class. My own 6 children still wish miss Amott was around to tie thier dad in his chair once again instead of up around meddling in their lives.
Thanks Miss Amott

Mrs. Amott was my first grade teacher in 1965 at Highland Park Elementary. I loved her and always had a special place in my heart for her!

Joan was such a wonderful person. I got to see her recently a couple of days after she got out of the hospital following a heart attack. She came to the door, fully dressed, with makeup on, apologizing for not being at her best. She wanted to get together soon and go over family history. Last night, when I heard she had passed away, I looked up our family history and discovered that Joan is 4th cousins with my husband through the John Lewis and Martha Evans line. I am hoping she is having a happy reunion with ancestors who have gone before, especially her dear mother.

What a great loss to the world! I have very fond memories of Miss Amott. She was my fourth grade school teacher at Forrest Elementery School on 9th East and 21st South in Salt Lake about 1962. Her kindness and understanding was very impressionable for a young child like me. She chose me to place the crowning star on the Christmas tree in the evening program for the parents that year. The confidence she placed in me changed me forever for the better. I was so happy to see her years later when she came through my unit where I worked as a nurse. I will always love her for the wonderful influence she was in my life. I am so sorry for the great loss to her family. What an amazing person. No wonder Heavenly Father wanted her back home! May God bless and comfort all who miss her. With love, Cheryl Prestwich Merrell
