John K. August

Saturday, January 01, 2011
We are saddened to hear of Johnnie's death. He made such a difference in my father's life when Dad was at Woodview. John would come to visit him, and he was a great source of support and encouragment to my father. I remember him being at our home when he and my brother were classmates and good friends at Concordia High School. John was also there for my mother before she died a number of years ago. May God's peace and comfort be yours now.

Mr. August was a guardian angel to the residents at Woodview and to their families. He was so caring of the residents and so patient. He truly seemed to love them. He was such a blessing to my mother, E. Pauline Bentz. She felt like she could go to him with any concern and , of course, he would solve it. After my mother's passing, I spent a week , myself, as a resident following a hospital stay. I can speak from personal experience that Mr. August provided a place of dignity for those in need of help. The Fort Wayne community has lost a very important member. The community of Heaven has gained a shining angel.
Mr. August, you will be missed by all whose lives you touched. One thing is sure; you are now surrounded in Heaven by the many elderly people you helped who have already passed.

Our family sends our gratitude to your family, who shared you with us, and our sincerest sympathy.

John Bentz,M.D.

Mr. August, please keep your hands over Woodview at this difficult time. We need your strength and courage to continue on. You are missed and always will be, never to be forgotten.

To Mr August family, What a joy to have known your father, I will miss him so much. He was always such a kind, friendly boss who spoke to me and everyone else like you were important to him. He was a man full of surprises like he would come walking down the hall at 3am in a pair of flip flops, shorts and a t- shirt with a smile on his face and say I'm here to do some paper work. He was never to good to do the same work that his staff would do. He would shovel snow, pick up things off the floor, grab a mop to clean a mess, and help residents get where they want to go. I'll miss his friendly smile and his Hello Miss Anita. May God Bless you and give you strength.

Mr. August was a kind, compassionate man, who showed all his employees how to provide happiness and comfort to Woodview residents. He treated each resident as if they were his own family and expected his employees to do so as well. I am so grateful for the example he set and learned a great deal from working for him. You became better because he believed in you. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with us! Deb Miller
