Dear Candy and Casey.......I was very sad to hear about John passing. Even though we haven't seen each other in many years, I have very fond memories of getting to know you both while selling your house in RWC. He was a great person and you were a wonderful couple! I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Casey, but I know she must be a spectacular person having been raised by such amazing parents. You are in my thoughts and prayers!
With Sympathy and Love,
A group of engineers who went through "SEI" training with John about 7 years ago remember him fondly. We gathered the below statements when we belatedly heard of his passing. As you can see, he touched a lot of people deeply all over the country in a relatively short period of time. I can only imagine how lucky those were to have spent years with John. Our collective thoughts and prayers remain with his family and friends.
I was definitely shocked and saddened by the news.
I know John will be missed by all of us.

Shocking and very sad. John was a pretty down to earth good guy - and my winning golf partner in Arizona!

John was a friendly and gregarious individual. He always asked me about my kids when we saw each other. He was so focused on his family. I will miss him.

What a shock. Life is too short. I hope we all are finding the time to appreciate what we have. I'll miss his Florida Cracker shirt this fall.

A warm, genuine man! The hat and beard, the voice, the humor, this will take some time to absorb…. He will be missed and not forgotten easily. An extra thought and prayer this weekend….

John's passing is so sad - I feel for his family. Reading all the great things he's done, and how important family was to him, I'm humbled by the time he carved-out to spend with us. We're all better for it.
A "by chance" crossing of paths with John several months back walking through SFO comes to mind for me. I turned around and there he was. Time not planned, but well spent sharing laughs and catching up. It had been a while, yet the time apart seemed so short. What a great, lasting memory. A friend indeed.

About all I can say is Wow. What a shock. Seems like we just saw John and he was his regular happy go lucky self. He had a unique ability to always be upbeat and look at the bright side of things. We will miss him.

It took me a couple of days to absorb the news and collect my thoughts about John. Like all of you I remember John fondly. I would describe him as humble, down to earth, sincere, quick with a joke and a laugh, easy going, scruffy, friendly, born in a hawaiian shirt and an overall jolly good fellow. I knew if I was ever in Eureka I would have no hesitation about calling him up or dropping by for a beer. He was the kind of guy that you didn't have to worry about. Big hearted with no pretenses or showmanship.
I will miss you John and you will reside in our memories. Bon voyage my friend.

John was just so solid, gentle, and 'real'. I can picture him clearly with the big beard and gleaming eyes. He will be missed here, but I am sure he is making those with him laugh and smile....till we see John again

Casey and Candy I was so shocked and sorry to hear about John. I did not know him well but he always seemed so kind and warm and it was always so obvious how very much he loved the two of you. I will say that the three of you sure did a lot of "living" in the years that you had together. I hope the memories will bring you much warmth once the initial ache of a great loss begins to soften. Please know that you are in my prayers and thoughts.
I've been wanting to express my thanks to John; he was instrumental in getting my husband Mike hired at SHN in 2007, and was the first person I met in the area. He was so friendly and treated us both like we had been friends for years.
It was a beautiful ceremony, and such a wonderful testament to his life that the church was filled to the brim with friends and family. Please know that his life with you will be a memory to keep you smiling always.
Mike and Debbie Veach
Candy and Casey please accept my condolences; I hope you have good and fond memories of John always.
John was a good friend and packed a lot of life into his 52 years he will be both missed and remembered often. We were all very fortunate to have known him.
