John and I were good friends in high school, though I never called him "chops". He was always fun loving and caring of others. I'm deeply sorry that he passed at such a young age.
Be with God, John.
Chops (don't know how he got the nickname- well kind of) had just a great personality and kept us all laughing in high school as well as at the reunions. He was a great football player in high school and few know that John and I were in personality and dance classes together in our preschool years. (he would say it developed his co-ordination)
He was just a great friend to everyone and it was so hard to hear at our 50th that he was gone.
My deepest and sincere sympathy to John's family. We have lost one great guy!

"Chops" was dearly missed at our Waterloo West high school reunion this past weekend and was warmly remembered by all.
We're going to miss Big John's gregarious personality. We have many fond memories of all the fun we had with the Cooneys. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
I am the nephew of John and his godchild. I remember him vividly growing up as a child as my dad's younger brother and doing things with him and his family including holidays when I was very young I had lost contact in recent years. It is a very sad day and my thoughts go to all who knew him including his family.
