I never met Mr. Plander, but would like to say I know he was a good man because I know his daugher, Nelda. The love he gave her as she grew up is very evident in the way she loved him and how she raised her own kids.
Because of that love, I know he was blessed.
My prayers go out to the family. I know he will be missed.
Kenneth and Dad made numerous trips together and every one was a great adventure and interesting. You never new how Dad was going to react. Kenneth and Dad drove to Las Vegas (everyone else flew) for Debbie's wedding. They took Route 66 from Las Vegas. Took a plane ride over the Grand Canyon. Kenneth, Dad and Richard did Dogs on Hogs several times and Dad loved it. He also did a plane ride with Richard over the Cleveland property. Nelda, Kenneth, Dad and sometimes I would join in on the Antique shopping trips. Dad usually would say something like "How long are we going to look at all this Old Stuff", but he really didn't mind it at first and actually was interested in seeing the Old Stuff (it would remind him of things). He especially loved the lunch spots with the Blue Plate specials. My Dad really loved his sweets. I'm sure Christina and I will never look at an Oatmeal Cream pie again without thinking of him. My Dad was funny, loved life and he really had a quick comeback. Even only 3 weeks ago. I think he was quicker than any comeback I could even think of and they were good ones. Unfortunately, we did not inherit his wit. I Love him and will miss him greatly.
I will always remember him riding around on the four wheelers in Cleveland and watching his grand and great grand kids play. He was a wonderful man and he will truly be missed.
I would like to acknowledge and praise Kenneth for the wonderful care and love he gave to Dad. Everything he did was for Dad's comfort and dignity. He has been looking out for and helping him since Mom's passing in 1992 and full time for the last 6 or 7 years plus. He put his life on hold for Dad and not many people would do that, especially, for no rewards. He hasn't had a vacation or fun-free weekend in all those years and it has been very stressful. And he just lost his only brother less than three months ago and that has really been hard on him. I love him very much and really miss Richard and now Dad very much. It's been me and the guys for years.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
