I am devastated to learn of Kathy's passing, and my heart goes out to Sidney and your family. Kathy was a friend to all of us fortunate to have known her. Our paths crossed in civic and charitable circles. She was always so helpful, generous, gracious - just a delightful friend to so many, and always willing to do whatever she could to help those whose mission is to help others. Many who never met Kathy are in better places because of her generosity. I'm among the many who deeply mourn her passing. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.

Dear Sidney, Alex, Patrick, and Oli,

It is impossible to describe the joy Kathy brought to my family and the sorrow her passing brings us. My mother regarded her as a sister, my father considered her one of his closest friends, my sister thought of her as a second mother, and I looked up her style and grace. Kathy had a unique characteristic of always thinking of others before herself, almost countering human nature. With this trait, she was the most selfless, thoughtful, and caring person that I will ever know. To me, this anonymous poem helps articulate Kathy's everlasting impact on all who were lucky enough to know her…
The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains.
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.

With Love,
Ali

Dear Sidney, Alex, Patrick and Olivia:
Just as I wrote you (Sidney) hours after I learned this tragic news two weeks ago, I am deeply devastated to know that we will not get to see Kathy's radiant smile and infectious personality again. It's just not possible that she left us decades too soon. I simply cannot believe it and don't want to accept that this is the reality. I remember meeting her when I was a little girl for the first time, when you (Sidney) brought her to our home in Bern... The two of you were just dating then. I wanted to be like her and in her presence whenever possible. She had a captivating softness and sweetness... always so beautiful and caring, willing to help anyone and everyone, including me and my family. I cherish the many wonderful times with her around the world and I am especially grateful to have seen her in December. At the same time, I cannot help thinking how many more good times were still to be had. My heart breaks, wishing I could somehow change this outcome. Kathy's brightness has left a tremendous void. If only she could see how loved and adored she was. Director Frank Capra really captured it best in my favorite classic and timeless film, Its A Wonderful Life... one person's life affects and touches so many others. Hers did in amazing ways! Now, even though I am back to my routine in California, you (and her family) are in my thoughts and prayers everyday. I am here for you with any support I can offer. Kathy is forever in my heart.... My love to you all, always,
Natalie Bizic

Dear Sidney,
Pam and I are deeply saddened at the loss of one so dear. Although we knew Kathy only briefly, we both were very fond of her and know that her loss will be felt deeply by all of those who had the privilege of knowing her, even a little. Our sympathy goes out to you and your children and our thoughts and prayers are with you.
