Saddened to hear of Maria's passing. She was a wonderful person. I am blessed to have had the priviledge of being her colleague, if only for a few years. Her kind, gentle manner always put me at ease.

"My dear friend, my colleague, my inspiration, and my sweet 'adopted' sister....I thank you for touching my life with your laughter, your smiles which encompassed your whole face, and your sincere kindness. You always made me see life with a different perspective as you gave so much of yourself to others. When I needed help, you were there. When I needed wisdom, you were there. Most importantly, when I needed a friend you were there...handing me a cup of tea along with your beautiful smile. I loved you, Maria, and I shall always miss you. Remember our promise."
May God comfort the Bonito family and grant them peace.

Maria inspired me by her courage and love for living! Her beautiful spirit and care for others will forever live in my heart! Maria introduced me to France for the first time and helped me to fall in love with travel! Thank you, my dear friend! Maria, I love you and feel blessed to have been a tiny part of your journey through life. You will live forever in the hearts of everyone who knew you!

I've only known Maria for less than a year. I met her when I joined the Cancer Support Group at Rex Cancer Center. From the first day I met her, Maria held a special place in my heart. Her soft-spoken words were always kind, caring, and sincere. I could always count on a hug from Maria at the end of each session. She could always sense when I was having a rough time emotionally, and those hugs from Maria were the best ones and exactly what I needed.

Reading Maria's obituary, I realize how little I knew of her life pre-cancer. I only wish I had gotten to know her better outside of group. At her last group attendance, the last thing Maria did for me was to give me one of her wonderful warm hugs. She was an amazing woman that exuded warmth and caring in every word she spoke.

I am certain Maria will be terribly missed as a wife, mother and grandmother. But the Lord has certainly gained another angel.

Maria... until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in his arms and wash away all your earthly pains and sorrows. I pray also for Maria's family that the Lord will comfort each and every one of you until you will be reunited in heaven.
