I had the pleasure of working with Maria in college and she was truly a “delightful” person. She loved that word and taught me its truest meaning. Today, whenever I use it I still think of her. She took delight in everything and she brought you right along with her. I am so sorry that we lost touch as our lives took different paths. I remember her fondly, and I am inspired to see the wonderful influence she has had on others.
Dear Devens Family, I am so sorry for your loss.
I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Maria's passing. Maria and I were psychology interns at The UIC Psychiatric Institute. I fondly remember Maria as a very smart, driven woman who was also funny and warm. She touched many, many lives, including mine. My deepest sympathy to her family.
I was so sorry to hear about Maria, she was an amazing person. I will cherish my memories of Phil and I hanging out with Maria at Reilly's, we had many good times together. I'm sure Phil and Maria are hanging out together now. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Always a lovely vision in purple. You touched many lives and will be dearly missed. Love and prayers to your family. Rest in peace, Dr. Devens.
I am grateful to have known and worked with Maria for 8 years at UIC. She was a true friend and colleague and always exemplified utmost professionalism, kindness and a commitment to her work. She was a true advocate for women's health; she was deeply committed to supporting and teaching family medicine residents. I am lucky to have learned so much from Maria.
