I remember fondly ML and I holing up in Maria's apartment in Leonia-a little respite from our NY City life-day trips to New Hope, which she loved, always to round out our weekend experience. She was always so generous and warm-I was just one of the "kids" and always left with love and gratitude and a terrific new "recipe!" Dear Maria, keep a vigil for all of us.

I will miss my Mother-in-Law, whom I affectionately called "Memily". She and I came up with this name, since I didn't know if she was Maria or Emily. We had so many good times over the years in Hawaii. She loved visiting MaryLou and me and we very much enjoyed showing her Hawaii. I will always remember when she came to the TV station where I worked to watch me direct our live newscast. She was in the Control Room next to me, headsets on, enjoying the action. Memily, may you now rest in peace.

God bless you, Em. I am happy to have shared and learned so much! Still have "Chocolate for a Woman's Soul" with your sticky-note saying, "From one odd ball to another Happy Reading "Em"." Life wasn't always easy but it was always good. We really were odd ball kindred spirits. I will miss our long conversations, even those that came to We agree to disagree -I think we both felt with a little more time ... She'll get it ... And then we'd laugh. God bless you, Em.

Maria has been my friend for more than half my life, ever since we met as neighbors more than 40 years ago. Such a generous, exuberant soul! Fun to be with in good times, always a sympathetic supporter when things weren't so good. Fiercely independent and fighting so hard to remain so right to the end. I miss our conversations. I miss you, my dear friend. Love you forever. Barbara

Don't think of her as gone away,
her journey's just begun.
Life holds so many facets,
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting,
from the sorrow and the tears.
In a place of warmth and comfort,
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today,
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living,
in the hearts of those she touched.
For nothing loved is ever lost,
and she was loved so much.

Auntie "M" will live forever be in our hearts.

My Mom died in the same manner as she lived her life-her way. Lived in her own home, fiercely independent with the most recent 4 legged companion Sam who will be with his cousins in Louisiana! My Mom's love of animals obviously influenced me to be a veterinarian. She raised all her children to be independent which led us to pursue adventures in different parts of the world. For me that meant finding my soul mate Stuart. She was there to witness our 25th anniversary where we finally celebrated with a wedding with her grandchildren Mac & Aly as our best man and maid of honor. She danced that day and again with her son David and his wife Sharon to welcome in the new year.
She was ready and wanted to leave this chapter and to critique the sequel. Love ya Mom.
