Dr. Mary A. Lynch 1919 - 2013

Dr. Mary A. Lynch

February 25, 2013
I am so sorry that I am unable to attend wake or funeral as I am in Antigonish at three days of meetings. I would want to express personally my great admiration and gratitude to Mary for being such a supporter and friend when I was chaplain at UCCB and , as well, ever since. I was delighted to enjoy a great visit with Mary on New Year's day when we shared great memories. And once again she was an icon of Christian faith and love of the Lord. My sympathies to Mary's family and friends as we say goodbye to a wonderful woman. I pray the Lord she loved in this life will greet her with an embrace and smile just as she embraced and smiled with so many of us.

I was so sad to hear of my first cousin's passing, Dr. Mary Lynch. I have known Mary all my life of 82 years, as her mother and my mother were sisters. I just visited Mary last summer and was looking to spend more time with her this year.

Mary was a wonderful person, intelligent, loved life and had a deep feeling for the Holy Spirit. I will miss her greatly, but I have so many fond memories of our times together.

Mary was my faculty colleague from 1971 until her retirement. While we came to our jobs with very different world views, I always regarded her as a friend, and someone whose dedication to her students was beyond reproach. Before it ever became fashionable, she was an accomplished and independent woman academic. I deeply regret that geography makes it impossible for me to attend in person, but my thoughts will certainly be with her and her family at the end of a long and distinguished life.

My Sincere condolences to the Lynch and related families on the loss of your loved one. I have never had the pleasure of meeting her, but I knew Father's Joe and Terence and brother Vaughn. Father Joe was, for many years, Parish Priest in my home-town of Trenton. Through him, I met Father Terry and Vaughn. I last saw father Joe when he was PP at Creignish and was saddened to learn of his passing while on Missionary Service in Africa.
