THANK YOU MR. GRANT! After reading your guest book and thinking about my own time at Mt. Miguel '59-'63, I realized what a great staff you put together: Mr. Brown-History, Ms. Prine-Chemistry, Mr. Christiansen-Music, Ms. Fields-Councelor and so many more. We had championship sports teams, great drama presentations and an award winning band. We had it all thanks to YOU!

In 1969 Mel fought a battle with Hazel Bole, PR Supt., to hire me, at a time when my husband, Ned was a teacher at Mt.Miguel, and won. I will be always grateful as it started my 25 yr. teaching career. Mel also hired Ned as his wrestling coach in 1963, and provided much support in aiding MM to grow into a powerhouse wrestling school. He supported his teachers, was always gracious and available. He earned his entry into the MM Hall of Fame. Sue & Ned Blass

Mr Grant took me to a Rotary Club meeting, I think to give a presentation about the band. On the way up Sweetwater Road the odometer on his truck turned over to 100,000 miles as he watched. He was delighted. "Now there's something you don't see every day!" My old history teacher , Willis Austin, told me years after I graduated, "you guys probably didn't realize what an extraordinary principal Mel Grant was. Always fair." Bless your memory, Mr. Grant.

I never heard an unkind remark uttered about Mr. Grant which helps show you the kind of man he was. A true gentleman. Friendly, considerate, enthusiastic and loyal to his students...all of us Mt. Miguel graduates. We missed you at our 50th! May you rest is peace, Mr. Grant, knowing how much you were loved and respected.

I was fortunate enough to be a student under Mr Grant when he was Principle. I'll never forget his kind words, even when you were to see him for disipline. He wanted you to be your best, Thanks for everything Mr Grant.
