I want to give tribute to my very special Aunt Mildred. She always introduced me as "her one and only niece". She made me feel to loved and special.
Aunt Mildred always had the welcome mat out, invinted you into her heart and home--always with a cup of coffee and goodies.
I will never forget those hundreds of wonderful visits with my Aunt Mildred, over my life span of seventy-three years. Every time I came to visit my parents in the Sacramento area, we always got together.
Aunt Mildred, Aunt Dean, my Mom, Thelma, and myself were known as "The Silver Foxes". Those were such precious memories.
"I'll see you in Heaven".
Forever love, your one and only niece,

Grandma Mildred was all the things others have indicated: kind, loving, faithful, Christ-like, and many other kinds of wonderful. She loved her family, almost always had a sweet smile on her face, and I loved to hear her laugh. When we would visit, she and I would get up at 5:00 a.m. to read the Bible, and we started doing that when I was only 5 years old. So many good discussions we would have early in the morning. Every birthday card she would remind me I was her "oldest granddaughter," even though after I turned 30 I begged her to stop! I heard "Honey, you don't mean that..." so many times...and I loved the giggle she would give me when I told her "Oh yes I do!" Yes, she cooked wonderful meals but the company was always more important than the meal. She prayed the sweetest prayers and it was a constant in her life, not just for show. I did not see her often enough but I know that we will someday be together in Heaven and that the tears are for myself- not for her. Good bye Grandma, I hope you and Grandpa are jumping on clouds with my Dad.

I forgot to mention the power of mom's cooking. I thought her roast beef gravy could cure any illness. In 1961, while I lived in Alameda, I contracted hepatitis, type B. I was very ill, had a fever, and was vomiting. I asked Rod to take me home to eat and that would make me well. It was on a Sunday, the day that Mom always cooked a roast. Unfortunately, I caused my family, that was home, to go get gamma g shots. Our "real home" was on Grant Avenue where all of us lived. It was close to our church and many of the missionaries ate dinner at our house. It was a home where anyone was welcome. I remember listening to the people who escaped from behind the iron curtain, Nuns on the run from the Monasteries, and the surviving wives of missionaries that were beheaded by the natives in South America. My Mom taught us not to touch things that did not belong to us and Mom and Dad were never afraid to take us to other people's home because we were disciplined. I still cannot let myself go on my own computer because I'm aware that I don't enough to use it properly. My Mom is still looking over my shoulder even when I don't hang the toilet paper correctly. I'd better straighten up and fly right. Love you Mom and thanks for introducing us to Jesus Christ, our Savior and helping us to recognize right from wrong. See you soon.

My mother, like my grand mother, was the most loving and organized parent a girl could have. She set a good example of living her faith. She accepted the responsibility of taking care of her mother until Granny went to be with the Lord. Now they are rejoicing while we weep for our loss. When I told my friend about my mothers' passing, she asked me a strange question, Gwen, besides your Dad. who do you think was at the table during the reunion. My mind was filled with the names of those friends and family that were waiting for her appearance. Each of us kids are different in looks, personality, and expectations but I want to believe that we all love one another. as Christ loves his own. I will pray for those results. Until then, my sweet mother, enjoy your deserved rest.
Gwen, P.S. please hug Rod's and our baby girls neck for me.

As a youngster our families spent many Saturday evenings watching wrestling. We often ate together. I always enjoyed her fried chicken. She always invited us to church.
