Dr. Paul Richard Fink

Monday, September 09, 2013
One of the truly great teachers has gone to be with the Savior. I had Dr. Fink for homiletics at Grace Seminary in Spring 1976. He helped me overcome my fear of public speaking. He was both demanding and encouraging. He pushed us to be our best, then praised us when we made incremental steps forward. Every week the most improved preacher received a pencil; during the course of the semester we all got at least one. I can still hear him urging me to abandon my tripod stance and eliminate my glottal fry. A couple of years ago, when I was invited to give a guest lecture and sermon at Liberty University, I was able to reconnect with him, visit his classes, and give his current students a pep talk. As always, he was encouraging and made me feel so welcome. Our loss is heaven's gain. Robert Chisholm, Chair and Professor of Old Testament Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary
