Wow Phil - there are a few things give me pause to reflect, and the news of your passing is among them.

Thank you for your companionship, your teaching, your humor, your stories, your insight, your humanity, but mostly for your friendship, support and the light you shone into my life. You could be counted on to find the good in any situation, and the lesson in every situation. You will always be missed and never forgotten.

Peace now, Brother Phil. You deserve it!

Until again we meet ...

My friend Phil,

He became a good friend of my family after we got him out of hibernation on Christian Hill road. He started me on a reading adventure that I will never forget. He took me on a trip to Philadelphia Pa. to meet his friends (and now mine) Gerry (the mole),Steve Yednack and his Cambodian friends Saun te Hin and his brother Sonny at an American/Cambodian Association banquet.that is a another story and experience that will last me a lifetime. We spent a lot of time talking about life, books, people, religion, and anything else we could think of. I know Phil was proud of his service for our country and of the men who were there with him. I thank you for that Phil and I pray our heavenly father welcomes you with open arms.
Rest in peace my friend.

My Dear friend,
Growing up together you were always good with words and I was always struggling to try to find the right words; and now I find it so much more difficult to try to find the words to express my thoughts and feelings. Know that our friendship lives in a place where there's no space and time, where the dreams and wishes of our youth are immune to the bludgeoning's of chance, and where we will never be afraid to be ourselves.
Ours was unconditional friendship, one that kept our hands outstretched for each other no matter how far the distances apart.
I loved you Phil for all the things you were and all the things you weren't and all the things you wanted to be, I believed in you old friend and I always will. Sometimes I wish I didn't know now the things I didn't know then.

You had written this to me just before our last High School reunion, in it you reveal yourself, and I kept it for that reason.

“Looking back, I equate it to a bunch of insecure kids, all thrown together, holding one another's hands as they attempt to cross a busy street. Some of us did not make it. More of us will be lost along the way as we attempt to finish the race to get to the other side ( whatever that is or was ), and thus, we reach back for one another to both seek and give support, and to cherish the memory of those lost along the way. I think we all wanted to love one another but didn't know how. Do we know how to do that now? Can we ever go home again? - sadly, no. Phil”

Phil, I will miss the chance of adding new memories to our lifelong friendship.
Good by old friend may you find peace and comfort in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Sorry about all the muddy gush
Your best friend Bobby
