R. Wayne Young

Dear Young family, I just heard about Dr. Young's passing today. I was in his PMI group in 1988/89. Wayne was an absolutely awesome mentor and example for all of us "newbies" to federal service. Despite what we knew were heavy responsibilities at JSC, he always took the time to participate in our meetings and activities. One that especially sticks in my memory was an "outward bound" type trip he took with us. He was just recovering from a heart attack - yet he never complained or slowed down at all - despite all the grumbling all of us "youngsters" did. I just wanted you to know how much of an impact he had on so many people. I still work at KSC and I am now in a position to mentor and teach employees myself. I will always be grateful for the guidance I received from Wayne and hope that I am modeling his example. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Pat and family-- my brother, John just told me of wayne's passing. Think of you all often and have good memories of your visits to Springfield. We lost mom in October 2011. Sending love and prayers. Hugs to you all.
