It is sad day for all us Beaumont's. Dick was the last of the "Greatest Generation". Uncle Dick was very proud of his military service to his country. He went into combat in early September of 1944 as a member of the 9th Infantry Division. He fought through the nightmare of the Hurtgen Forest, one of the bloodiest battles of the war. Most Americans have never heard of the Hurtgen Forest, it was overshadowed by the Battle of the Bulge which began at the end of the Hurtgen Forest campaign. For his heroic actions during the battle for the Hurgen Forest, Uncle Dick was awarded the Bronze Star. I am so proud of my uncle and prouder still that I was named after him. Richard Beaumont
