I worked for the MML right after graduate school as the first person added after the move to the new building and Bob could tell me where to find the answer to almost any question submitted to MML. We were able to keep in contat over the years and I am not sure there was a greater Michigan football fan than Bob Fryer. I learned so much from Bob and along with so many others that he mentored that is one of the many reasons he was an early special award member of ICMA. I thank his family for all of the years they shared him with us. Mark Wollenweber Grosse Pointe Shores

My Uncle Bob was my favorite. He had the best laugh and gave the best hugs. He will be missed.

I knew Robert Fryer for nearly 10 years (1957-1967) when I worked at the Michigan Municipal League as its Publications and Research Director.

Bob, without a doubt, was the finest person to head the League. He was dedicated, totally committed to the welfare of local government, and made significant and innovative contributions for the state's cities and villages and their local officials.

I was privileged to work with Bob from 1967 until his retirement in 1976. I continue to remember his passion for municipal government and the Michigan Municipal League and his vision and integrity.

I really respected Bob for all his dedicated service on behalf of good government for the municipalities of Michigan. As a member of many committees, a trustee of the league in the 1960's, a member of the Michigan ICMA, I witnessed first hand his efficient oversight of the League. Bob and Lee continued to encourage me after I moved to Ann Arbor. I have a line drawing that Lee made on the wall of my study which she gave to me. My prayers are with the family at this time.
