Our deepest condolences from the Villareal family (Zony and Samuel)
It reminds me of a Tagalog song that goes this way: “Ang buhay, tulad ng isang awit lamang; may simula at may katapusan; ano man ang ating kapalaran, tanging Dios lamang ang nakakaalam.” ( Life is but like a song, there is a beginning and there is an ending. Only God Almighty knows the destiny of our life).
To say goodbye to Roger is not an easy task for us. It is an ordeal that is difficult and shattering. With deep sorrow and grief, we say farewell, for we have lost not only a classmate but a dear friend and colleague, a handsome human being, a physician, father , vibrant, vigorous and active, full of exuberance and at the forefront of his chosen career as a surgeon when he developed a stroke. I always have a long exchange of stories whenever I met him during our FEU class reunion.
Just what can I say about Roger , who I considered to love life and enjoyed people?
How can you describe of such a person, who is a friend to everyone?
This magnificent man knew how to please people and made a legion of friends. The last time I met him with Cora was in Manila at the Balik FEU 50th anniversary of class '61 at the Galleria Hotel Grand Ball. He was in a wheelchair and all smiles.
Roger's passing leaves a sad feeling in me and I'm sure that many of you, friends, classmates in the FEU United Classs ‘61, feel the same way. Here' a saying: “ For every season of life, God has a purpose…, and when things begin to change, I know that a new growing period is about to begin. That's how God works in this world. A world, which never stays the same.”
I finally found comfort in believing that God has a reason for calling back our dear friend Roger, our heavy heart shall be lifted. So we thank the Good Lord for blessing and enriching our lives and lives of his family with such a wonderful and compassionate human being. The Good Lord may not give us all the answers we seek now, yet with faith, He will give us find peace and comfort every time we long for Roger.
To Roger, may you rest in peace and many thanks for the precious memories we have shared with you.
From your friend and classmate –Cesar D. Candari, M.D.
