My deepest condolences to the Dutch family.
Mr. Dutch is ever present in the memories of my time at MSU. His impact with the Evans Scholars and the young men and women he has influenced will be felt across generations to come.
(MSU Evans Scholar 1990)
Tom Dutch was a true mentor to hundreds of MSU Evans Scholars. He also trained us to be mentors to others or "fishers of men". We were blessed to know him.
Tom was also a matchmaker by putting my future wife Sue Sherman with Kendy Faber in the same dorm room.
It has been a bit of a mystery to how Tom could do so much. A special thanks to the Dutch's for sharing Tom with us - especially the M-Twins.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nathalie and the Dutch family. Tom was a great guy and great neighbor-always friendly. We loved it when dropped the goodies from his garden at our door. I hope he has found the big garden in the sky and is enjoying a miller lite and a cigar.
Hi D'Arcy, this is Mary Catherine Rompf Biernacki (St. Thomas). I am so sorry to hear about your father's passing. Our prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
While we were in school, I doubt if we ever appreciated the true depth of Mr. Dutch's character and his tremendous capacity for giving. I, like many who went through the Program, was affected by Mr. Dutch and the Scholarship in ways I only truly appreciate as I get older. He leaves a lasting legacy that would be the envy of anyone. We all have been changed for the better by knowing him. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the entire Dutch family.
