Thomas A. Dutch 1925 - 2012
Monday, December 10, 2012
Dear Mrs. Dutch,

I am deeply sorry to hear about the death of Mr. Thomas A. Dutch. He will definitely be missed and I truly appreciate everything that he and his entire family did for me and the Evans Scholar program. He is an original and I feel honored and privileged to have met him and had the chance to learn from all of his selfless acts of kindness to every Evans Scholar and person that knew him in this world. Again, I am sad to hear about this sad news and I hope and pray that Mrs. Dutch and the entire Dutch family will always know that my husband Eric (he did not have the chance to meet this great man, but I always made sure that he knew about what Mr. Dutch did for me as I became the first Black American Female Evans Scholar at Michigan State University in the fall of 1994 and Mr. Dutch helped me greatly to deal with any difficult times that I ever had while attending Michigan State University, and always offered excellent and truthful advice at all times and he will always be appreciated for his helpful and kind words that helped me throughout the program as I accomplished my goal of becoming an engineer, and I always remembered his kind words and it continued to help me as I continued on with my education after getting my bachelors degree at Michigan State University and it was always remembered as I continued on with my education and graduated with my Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Ohio in the year 2003 and I will always be thankful that he offered his kind words and together with the kind words of my family, it helped me to always remain focused on my goals of achieving my college education) and please always know that my husband Mr. Eric Kelly (we got married on 10-10-10 (Sunday) in case you were wondering), my parents Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim and Christiana Dallah, my brothers Mr. Jideofor Dallah, and Mr. Olisaeloka Dallah (my brothers were also Evans Scholars and they attended the University of Michigan), will keep the entire Dutch family in our thoughts and prayers during this very sad time. Again, I am so sorry to hear about the death of such a wonderful and caring man in this world, and I thank you Mrs. Dutch for sharing him with all the Evans Scholars and everyone that knew him in this world.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nwamaka (Dallah) Kelly
