Dr. Wallace Hyde was a great friend to students, contributing to numerous scholarships that will benefit generations. As a Democrat he was a mentor to many of us who admired his political convictions and engagement. Jeanette, your devotion to him is exemplary. Our prayers are with you in these days even as we celebrate his life.
To Jeanette and other family and friends of Wallace -- I'm very sorry to hear about Wallace's death and extend my deepest sympathies to you in this time of grief. I pray that the comfort that comes from your faith, your memories, and your bonds with one another will soon replace the sadness. We always new that we could count on him to stand up for good government and the needs of the citizens of our state. He has been one of our party's most influential leaders.
