James Frederick Arnold, Sr., 81, passed away, July 2, 2014 at his home in Savannah, Georgia. Jim was born April 19, 1933 to Charles and Helen Arnold in Jacksonville, Florida, the oldest of 3 children. Jim married his sweetheart, Jean Pearl, in 1955. An Eagle Scout, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army. After his military service, Jim graduated from the University of Florida in 1957; thus began his lifelong allegiance to the Gators. After graduating from college, Jim was employed by McKesson /Robbins before beginning a long career with Kimberly Clark, transferring to Savannah in 1962. Jim loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was actively involved in the Savannah Elks Lodge 183 where he was a Past Exalted Ruler, directed the Annual Hoopshoot competition, the Annual Eagle Scout Banquet and the Annual Girl Scout Father/Daughter Dance as well as an Annual Dance for the Mentally Challenged. Jim is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Cindy (John) McKinnon; Karen (Alan) Woods; Linda (Tim) Paulus; and son, Jimbo (Lisa) Arnold, Jr.; 11 grandchildren: Tyler, Jared, and Brett McKinnon, Taylor and Carter Blackburn, David Abbott and Anna Paulus, and Ashley, Katlyn, Renee and Michelle Arnold; sister, Jane Johnson, sister-in-law, Nancy (Steve) Horvath; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce Norton. The family will greet friends Sunday, 7/6/14 from 6p - 8p at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. in Savannah which will include a ceremony by the Elks Lodge #183 and a Rosary to follow. Funeral services will be held Monday, 7/7/14 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church with Father Gabe Cummings officiating. A procession will follow to Greenwich Cemetery for burial. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the 'Elks Lodge #183 McKenna Friedman Scholarship Fund' or Spanish Oaks Hospice.
