Maria Jose Pinheiro Silva, 85, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joao Silva.
Born in Ponta Garca, Sao Miguel, Acores, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria da Conceicao Pinheiro, she had resided in New Bedford for 49 years.
Mrs. Silva worked as a stitcher in the local textile industry.
Survivors include her children, John M. Silva and his wife JoAnn Silva, Gilbert Silva and Maria L. Dumont and her husband David Dumont; sisters, Maria da Conceicao Soares and Maria Angelina Pinheiro Leite; a brother, Antonio Pinheiro; a loving sister-in-law, Armanda Pinheiro; grandchildren, Shane and Savannah Dumont, Melanie and Derek Silva; and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Suzanne Silva and sister of the late Maria do Carmo Pinheiro, Alda Tavares, Joao Pinheiro, Jose Eduardo Pinheiro and Maria Eduarda Pinheiro.
Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 9am from the BROOKLAWN- CHAUSSE DUMONT FUNERAL HOME, 15 Irvington Ct., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.
