Phyllis Keim Obituary

KEIM Phyllis Julian Keim, age 90, a resident of Upper Arlington for 58 years, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Sunrise Assisted Living on the Scioto. Phyllis was born in Bedford, Indiana on August 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Josephine Julian. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her sister Eleanor Bowman. She is a graduate of Valparaiso High School in Indiana and received her Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University in Home Economics; where she was active in Chi Omega. Phyllis was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; where she was involved in the Church Circle. She was also active in Children's Hospital, T.W.I.G. and Past President of Pilot Dogs. Phyllis and husband, Bob enjoyed traveling all over the United States and over seas. She enjoyed needlepoint and reading, but Phyllis will be remembered for being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Keim; children, Bill (Evie) Keim, Jody Keim and Jim (Marcia) Keim; grandchildren, Michelle, Kathy (John), Julie (Pete), Lori, Rob and Mark (Courtney); four great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jane Brown; family angel, Debbie Cumberland; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank their good friends for their support, Patti Knisley, Joy and Bob DeWeese and Dottie and Art Shepard. They would also like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living on the Scioto and Heartland Hospice. Finally, thank you to their extended O.S.U. basketball family, GO BUCKS; Fred Taylor, Eldon and Dee Miller, Chuck and Dottie Machock, Gary Williams, Randy Ayers and Thad and Barb Matta, especially to the Miller's and Matta's over the past years. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221, where service will begin at 4 p.m., with Reverend Philip Brooks officiating. Private family entombment at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221 or Pilot Dogs, Inc., 625 West Town Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
