Russell L. Harstine

Russell L. Harstine, 87, of Easton, passed away Friday, February 11 in VNA of St. Luke's Hospice House. Born: January 13, 1924, in Durham, PA, he was a son of the late George Harstine and Hazel Dimmick Walters. Personal: He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Janice Fehr. Russell retired from the former Dixie Cup Company, where he worked for 20 years and The Express-Times, formerly The Easton Express, where he worked for 30 years. After retirement he was employed by Walmart and Moyer Lumber. He served as a Sgt. with the Army during World War II. Russell enjoyed playing bingo, music and reading. Memberships: He was a soldier in the Salvation Army, Bethlehem, where he was a bell ringer at Christmas. He was a life member of AmVets, Order of Fleas and Brown & Lynch American Legion Post 9. Survivors: two sons, Russell A. Harstine and his wife Kathryn, of Glendon Borough and Larry Conover and his wife Bobbi, of Stockertown; two daughters, Pat Shireman and her husband Jonathan, of Knoxville, TN and Roslyn Kilpatrick and her husband Dean, of Easton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A brother, George N. Harstine, died earlier. Services: A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, in the Salvation Army, 521 Pembroke Road, Bethlehem.
