Don Marquell Mitts

MITTS, Mr. Don Marquell - Age 19, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Mitts will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed Monday from 1-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12Noon-8 p.m. Mr. Don Marquell "Mister" Mitts was born August 6, 1991 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Vanessia D. Mitts and Don M. Richardson. Don loved going to church and was currently a member of Guiding Light C.O.G.I.C., where Victor B. Adams, Jr. is Pastor. He was currently attending Davenport Alternative School. Don loved to draw, dance, "try to sing" (smile) and music. He was also proficient with computers and electronics. Don loved to laugh and will be deeply and forever missed. He leaves to cherish his memory: son, Tyler T. Wilson-Mitts; parents, Vanessia D. Mitts and Don M. Richardson; grandmother, Pearlie Cox, all of Flint; sister, Ayana Mitts of Swartz Creek, MI; stepsister, Mercury Shaw; stepbrother, Carl Calhoun, both of Flint; 7 aunts, Arletha Logan of Mt. Morris, MI, Brenda A. (Usvia C. III) Soles, Ava M. (Thomas E.) Coffey, Nakimuli (Otis, Sr.) Love, Na'Rita Mitts, JKiaya Thompson, all of Flint and SaVitra McClurkin of Lansing, MI; 6 uncles, Roy M. Richardson of Saginaw, MI, Alphonso Richardson of Warrenton, NC, Mikeal (Kim) Burnett, Sr., of Lansing, MI, Carl Mitts, Jr. of Flint, Tyron (Regina) Mitts, Sr. of Arlington, TX and special uncle, Albert Shaw of Flint; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Qrisha Humphrey, Quamay, Meechy and Bobby Plair. Mr. Mitts was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leroy and Mary J. Richardson and Carl Mitts, Sr.; aunts, Delphine Bailey-Betts and Sonji Mitts; and cousin, Iyuania L. Friend. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor and First Lady Adams and the Guiding Light C.O.C.I.C.
