Shirley Sessions Obituary

SESSIONS (SNIDER), SHIRLEY JEAN Shirley Jean Sessions (Snider), also known by many as "Nan-Nan", age 74, of Wyoming, Michigan went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From her birth in Peach Orchard, Arkansas on February 9, 1938 to her death on Thursday, she nourished and cherished the people around her with love, words of faith, wisdom, and creativity. She was born to Cleatis and Brooxie Isyl (Blount) Snider and was the eldest of five children. Shirley and John Sessions married in 1978 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Shirley worked in Medical Records at Lutheran Social Services from 1980-2005. Left to honor Shirley are her children: Leona Price (Hill) and Sherri (Ansis) Bandenieks (Hill/Londo); four step-children: Steve Sessions, Marie Malacara (Sessions), Kevin (Debbie) Sessions; five grandchildren: Kristal Hill, Brandon Hill, John Price, Chea (Mike) Dykstra (Hill), Cameron Hill, Telisha Shave (Price), Audrey Reichert (Sessions), Sarah Nichols, Neal Sessions and Carrie Sessions; many great-grandchildren; brother Therman (Vern) Snider and sister Linda (Richard) Pinston (Snider); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Darla Jean Hill, parents, Brothers Bill and Sherman Snider, and step-daughter Cherie Nichols (Sessions). Shirley will be remembered as a bright and vibrant, witty and creative mother, grandmother, and friend. Shirley enjoyed family, scripture, her dogs, writing, oil painting, knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, camping, photography, and planning and building a cabin with her husband in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. And none of us will ever forget, as Shirley often said when hearing or stating a clever phrase, "We should write this down and put it in a book, it might sell someday!" Family, friends, and others whose lives Shirley touched are invited to her Memorial Service at Millbrook Christian Reformed Church, 3661 Poinsettia Ave, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508, from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

What a wonderful lady!!! She was a friend and almost like a mother to me all those years working at Luther Home. Her many pearls of wisdom I still refer back to and pass on to others whenever I get a chance.

Oh how blessed we were to have known.
her.
