Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Fairbanks Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to troops in Afghanistan this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Jacob J. Fairbanks US Army Specialist. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

To the family of Spc. Jacob J. Fairbanks:
As you may know, the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation has honored your loved one at its Memorial Day Sunday worship service (each year in May) … since the time of your fallen hero's ultimate sacrifice. We will continue to pay tribute to our nation's veterans … lest we ever forget!
Now we would like to honor you … as the next-of-kin … who have also paid a great price on the altar of liberty. On Sunday 29 September at 11:00 a.m. we will host a Gold Star Family Sunday.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship … as we pay tribute to your sacrifice. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain (Colonel-Retired) Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “By Dying, We Live.” The special music will be the husband/wife vocal/piano — Wickman Duo. Following the worship experience, your family is invited to attend a social time in our Fellowship Hall … with some light refreshments.
As this historic chapel has limited seating, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org
If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.
Respectfully,

To the family of Spc. Jacob J. Fairbanks:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.
The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).
As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/286-7296) or email the office ([email protected]) and leave your name and contact information.
Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday 25 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sunday, 26 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one's cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.
If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I know that there is nothing I can say or do that will take the pain away. This is a tremendous loss, and we all know this. Jake was a wonderful man, loved by many, and I know that his absence, even as time passes, will never cease to be painful. I just hope that during this time you will grow closer to each other, and that this terrible tragedy will bind you together instead of tearing you apart.

I went to youth group with Jake and although I was much younger than him, I thought the world of him. I didn't know him as well as I would have liked because of our age difference, but I think the world of him and I look up to him so much. His leadership was simply amazing. The immense love he showed to everyone is something that I will always remember him for. There will never be another like him. I will miss him greatly. Thank you, Jake, for everything you did for this country, your family, your friends and myself. You were such a blessing.

I was blessed to be part of Jake's life as one of his youth leaders. He was a gifted young man whose heart was a gift from God, and was willing to share his faith to others. He was often the first person who entered the door for youth night and the last to leave. He was always looking for the good in people and willing to help out whenever needed. If you needed something...he was the first to raise his hand. His friends and family were very special to him and he deeply cared for their well being. He will be remembered. God bless his family.

When I first got to Ft. Campbell, and to 1/320 FAR, Jacob was one of the first guys I met. He made me feel welcome, like he did with everyone. Over the course of time that we served together, he became a close friend, and I will never forget the way he had an uncanny ability to make me smile even when nothing else could. He was a good soldier, and an even better friend, I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you Spc. Fairbanks for your dedication to not only your family, but also your country. You fought for me and my children, and gave your life for all of those around. I will never forget that. To the wife, God is holding you in the palm of his hands, you are surrounded by angels in front of you, behind you, and on either side, and you are covered with his love. I hope that you are as well as can be expected, and I pray for your children. I know that they will grow up as proud of him as we all are, even more than the rest of us. Keep your eyes up, and your children around you, and know that they still love and need you even more than ever. You will never be alone, and don't be afraid to reach out to those around you. I don't even know you guys, but I want you to know that you are all so loved.

To the Fairbanks Family: Jan, Jen, and Dwan my deepest sympathy to you all. I remember Jake,Robby,Caleb and Amanda being a strange, goofy group in high school. When Amanda(Roub) called me with the news of Jake's death I was so sad to hear. May God give you peace.

I remember the goofball that was Jake, but really, the most powerful memory I have was one of his weaker moments...
Regional finals for speech team. Halfway through the season I became his dramatic duo partner, both because his original partner had dropped out and because I was really bad at extemp speaking. We were doing a sad piece called "Julia", about two fathers in a hospital waiting room, one whose baby was born dead. We both had trouble the whole time memorizing the piece, but we worked hard and thought we finally had it down.
But then after the first round, which I thought went well, he suddenly wasn't himself. I guess he had gotten a call, one of his relatives was dying (i'm not quite sure if that was right...), and he broke down. He couldn't do it anymore. We forfeited the rest of the rounds. He was in pain, and I tried to sympathize, but he felt so bad for ruining our chances.
I think this just shows how caring he was... What a kind heart. I'm going to miss him a lot.

Dear The Fairbanks Family:
I am so blessed to have met and known Jake in high school. Whenever I think of him or hear his name it makes me smile...and that was the best thing about Jake. He was ALWAYS able to make me smile or laugh no matter what the situation. He always seemed so stress-free, but I guess he was just self-less....always thinking of others before himself...Jake was someone who will go the extra mile just to make someone feel good about themselves.
My heart and prayers go out to you during this time and for always...Jake will never be forgotten. I only have good memories we've shared as friends....

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

May you find strength from Our heavenly Father as he gives us our burdens to bear.
We are another military family who has a fallen soldier and know the days ahead are difficult ones to endure.
Remember the wonderful beautiful person Jacob was and never forget he is a true American hero for his commitment to our country and its cause for enduring peace.
May God bless each of you and hold you close. Our prayers are with you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

I want to offer my deepest sypmpathies to Jacob's parents. Try to remember that now he is at peace. I know it must be so hard and I don't even pretend to know what you must be suffering but please know that you are not alone. You are in my thoughts and prayers now and in the future. Jacob was a friend to my son when he first arrived at Fort Campbell and he will never be forgotten. My son is in Baghdad and I know he feels great sorrow. He told me that Jacob was a good soldier and a great friend. I hope that knowing his fellow Soldiers held him in high regard will help carry you through the difficult days ahead. God bless you.
