I contacted by the unit you were attached to. They are trying to keep your memory alive. I have agreed to allow them to keep in contact with me. How the time apart doesn't seem to change the emptiness I feel by you and your brother not being here. That is part of being your mom and in time I am told it will be easier to manage. well i was thinking of you and wanted to write...still and always in my heart...

I am remembering the flight to Walter Reed and spending those weeks with you there. And then I remember those times at the VA hospital here. Thinking we had you home free only to lose you.
Those quiet moments in life when I feel you near me. Son I will never forget

You are an amazing person whom I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know. Before the tears start from a not quite healed wound, I'll say god bless to you and thank you.

Curt, Memorial Day is approaching and every commercial on TV that mentions the need to honor our servicemen brings thoughts of you to my mind. I look at a flag and think of you. I watch the Military channel and thoughts of you come flowing in. I wish that you had been given the gift of long life that I have had and that I might have done half of what you achieved in your short life. My grandchildren know who you were and what you did....and that will keep memory of you alive for a long time to come. Be well my nephew and see you sometime in the future.

Wow, I had no idea any of this had happened. My condolences and continued prayers go out to your family and friends.
I met Curtis back in 98 when we went to High School Summer Session together and he always was this like amazing positive guy. He was happy and just carefree, which was a shock to me being depressed all the time. But he always had a smile on. We used to gather at a local coffeehouse on the weekend with friends and do karoake.
Those times were by far the most memorable of my entire high school life. The last time I spoke to him as on myspace or some other networking group site like in 2004 or 2005 I believe. I just found out about his passing a few days ago and it came as an incredible shock to me.
I have no words at all to express what I'm feeling cos in my heart and mind I don't know what to feel. It still is so new to me.
I pray for all of your stength, for your family, your daighter, your spouse, and to everyone who had the incredibly god fortune to have you enter into their lives and touch them.
Life is like a movie and everyone has their parts. Unfotunately often time the good ones have smaller parts than you'd like them to have.
God bless you all and I'll see you again up there someday.

As I sit here searching for the right things to say, I am at a loss. Today is Memorial Day and while I am far away from friends today, I still remember the one that changed my life for the better. Its hard to put into one word what his life and service meant to me personally. The memories I have of this great Man make me smile. Since I cannot be there to leave a flag in his memory on this important day, I will leave this instead: Never forgotten, always remembered for being a true hero and a dedicated soldier to this great country of ours, but remembered most of all for being the Man he truely was. Thanks for the great memories, and for a friendship that will always remain in my heart, and will forever be special. I loved him like a brother, and may his legacy live on forever in the hearts of everyone he touched. Thank you for serving this country, your one in a million! You inspired so many lives, touched so many hearts and you will never be forgotten. May God bless you and keep you with the angels for all eternity.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

He was one of my best friends and I will never forget the one guy that truely touched my heart and soul very few people have. I will always miss him. May he always be with the angels.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the extended Spivey family,
I continue to hold your family in my prayers, knowing that Curtis will forver live on in the hearts of an entire nation. I don't think anyone joins the service expecting to be a hero, but then we are not privileged to know our destiny and we must only do what we feel is right, what we feel is just, and for those who serve - we must answer our own personal calls to duty. Curtis did that, not only once, but twice. He is a hero, and forever will be. I know that all of you will collectively make sure his daughter understands that when she is ready because your family is one of the most patriotic families I know. I wish you peace,

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

My heartfelt sympathy to the Spivey family in the loss of Curtis. I did not know Curtis, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. My heart was touched by the many wonderful/beautiful things written about you. Curtis you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.
I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.
Love and Peace
Tom

Curtis' enthusiasm for his work in the military and his dedication to protecting our country always amazed me. I'll never forget the day that he told me he was going to enlist. It made me both proud and afraid. Now all I can be is proud that he lived his life fighting for what he believed in. We constantly prayed for him while he was overseas. I remember Nana gave up icecream on one of his tours so that he'd come back safely. Nothing will fill the hole that has been left in our hearts by the loss of Curt. As many have said, we still have the wonderful memories that he's left us. I remember one time, while Curtis was gearing up for boot camp, he walked all the way from Chula Vista to Ocean Beach to visit me and another friend who lived in the area. Haha I thought he was crazy =) The last time Tim and I got to hang out with him we drove to Horton Plaza while blasting AC/DC and went knife shopping. And of course I'll never forget all the Thanksgivings and Christmas's that were spent together. Michael, Joey, Curt and I would stuff ourselves to the bursting point and then play video games until our eyes crossed.
You will be missed and will always be loved.

Curtis was a friend of mine from Hilltop High School. Curtis, you were there for me in high school and we shared many memories together. Most of which were you acting silly and comical. I will never forget all that you did for me. You are loved and missed by many and will always remain in my heart.

Curtis you are and always have been, our adopted kid since the first time we meet you. We saw you grow while you shined in what you loved. Thanks for all the kind words and smiles you have given to our family. When we saw you last march, I would not have thought it would be our last - I wish I would have given you a big hug and tell you how so very proud we are of you. But, we know you know how we feel!!! We will miss you so much!!!!god bless you and your family!!!we will pray for you allways and forever!!!!
