Niles, (as I affectionately called him)
I find this so hard to write.
I feel that if I turn around you will be there.
We have been seat mates for quite some time.
I looked forward to speaking with you each day about life, the world, or architecture.
You truly will be missed.
Goodbye my friend.

Last Sunday as I read through the Church of the Little Flower bulletin and came across Nilo's name, I couldn't help but wonder if this was my good friend from Miami Springs Senior High. I too had lost contact as Elio Madan wrote with Nilo after high school but had fond memories of our time in school. My condolences to his family and especially his brother Carlos who I also knew.

Sorry to hear of Nilo's passing, Nilo was what I consider to be the most kindest, caring person in Architecture I have every met. He put out the good word for me when finding another job in Architecture, after working with him for 4 months. I would occasionally say hello to him in the grocery store while shopping with his son. He also was a great person, and family man, and caring person. I remember him telling me that he was taking his children after work to Cape Florida on Key Biscayne in the year 2000. Today, I'm Putting out the good word with many warm thoughts, and wishes for him, and his wife, children, and family. I'm going to miss you Nilo, and may you Rest in Peace!

For the brief time that we worked together, I could instantly sense that there was something encouraging about Nilo. We young architects looked up to him because of the enthusiasm he showed for the profession, the camaraderie he offered us and the love he had for his family. He will be trully missed.

I had the privilege of working with Nilo a few times while I was an architecture student. It was very inspiring to encounter such an intelligent, dedicated, professional who was also a great family man. Prayers go out to all his family and friends.

I am truly humbled by the great man that my brother Nilo was. It seems unreal that a person that meant so much in your life could be taken away so quickly.... The condolonces in this guestbook continue individually and collectively describe the incredible person that he was. We will miss him always and will forever carry him in our hearts. May God bless all that grieve with us.....

Elio "el Profe" Madan, MD. He was a childhood friend and it was with great sadness that I heard of his death. I remeber taking my friend to the dances at Miami Springs Senior High and conviencing him to go to Gainesville to study. He was very dedicated to his craft, even at Filler Junior High, people knew that there was something special abou him. He always had a smile, even when the joke was on him. Our lives drifted apart after college, but I never forgot my friend.

Freedom is the ability to choose between several possibilities.
Freedom means to be the master of decision.
For those, who were not be asked, it's hard to accept freedom of this special kind.
And finally we learn, that we're sometimes determined by the freedom of another.
Our thoughts are with the family of Nilo Puentes.

Nilo remains in my memory as one of the best men that ever lived. He was the ideal husband and father. His wife and children were privileged to have him. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this time, as they are very dear to my heart, despite our distance. Words cannot adequately capture the tremendous sense of loss created by his absence. The only consolation amid this sickening grief is the promise of being reunited someday in Heaven through Christ Jesus. I will pray for this the rest of my life...

It's hard to find peace of mind, sense and consolement when a loved one dies unexpectedly. I have found much comfort in learning that God is not responsible for our suffering, that He does care about what happens to us, and that He has determined to end once and for all human suffering. In Revelaton 21:4 He promises to "wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." This promise won't take away the pain but certainly gives hope and strength to endure it. I hope these few words bring Mr. Puentes family some comfort.

We planned on walking the Barefoot Mailman together. He called congratulating me on my new job but a few weeks past. Truly a gentle and soft spoken man with a heart of gold. My prayers go out to him and his family.
