Richard Harrington Obituary

Richard James Harrington

Richard James Harrington, "Dick" passed away at his home in Snohomish, WA on Sunday, December 11, 2011. He was 59 years old. He was born in Seattle, WA on May 2, 1952 to Calvin and Eileen Harrington.
He spent most of his childhood at the family farm in Snohomish with his siblings Wayne, Carol, Steve and Dixie. Dick graduated from Snohomish High School in 1970 along with a classmate named Deborah Bachart. Dick and Debbie were married on October 18, 1975. They lived all around Washington, but settled back in Snohomish in 1989.
During the past 36 years of marriage, Dick helped raise his children, Albert, Emily, Stacey and Steven and in all ways remained dedicated to his wife and family. For the past 32 years Dick has been employed by Stoneway Concrete where he was their Aggregates Operation Manager. He was also a member of the Local 302 Operating Engineers Union.
Dick enjoyed football and coached many of his son's football teams. He was an avid music lover, and collected albums, CD's and memorabilia. Dick's favorite hobby however was the restoration and rebuilding of classic muscle cars; he had recently finished his 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner, a tribute to the car he had in his youth.
Dick is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Albert, Emily, Stacey and Steven; children-in-laws, Beth, Mike and Becky; four month old granddaughter, Edalyn; his brother, Steve; and sisters, Carol and Dixie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Eileen; his brother, Wayne; and his nephew, Clint.
There will be a memorial at his home on December 18, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Dick, my brother. We were brothers and best friends for 59 years. We worked, played, laughed and cried together. In all that time there was never a cross word between us. You always had my back, no matter the circumstance. There will be a big empty space in my life from here on out. I love you bro'.

Gone too early. Yet the end could not have been scripted better were it writttten by Shakespeare surrounded by his family. I will miss the wisdom and inspiration that you have bestowed on me for 31 years. I will miss the man, the myth, the legend. I love you, Dad.

It is with great sorrow that I just learned today of Dick's passing. I had the pleasure of working "with" Dick for many years while conducting inspections of the facilities he and his Dad, Cal, managed. Dick was a most pleasant fellow and I always enjoyed our talks after completing business. He was so proud of his family. I will truly miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Dic Gribbon

I am sad to hear of Dick's passing. Our connections go way back to 4-H days. Those were good times. With love from Carolene (Mansfield) Ferro and all the family.

Those of us here at the County who worked with Dick over the years wanted to let you all know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. He was a straight shooter and a great guy. You could always rely on him to say what he meant and he meant what he said. A rare attribute. He will be missed.
Sincerely,
Fred White

Debbie, and Family

I am so sorry for the loss of such a great man, fantastic father, and a wonderful friend to many. We will forever cherish our times together. Debbie, you and the rest of your family need to know you have been a large part of our lives, and will always continue to be.
The times with Dick from the big cruise, the many gourmet dinners at your house, the recent cruise reunion party, along with the many luau's will never be forgotten.
The lighted Cristmas tree Dick and Emily put up last weekend sums up how I feel about your husband, father and brother. Dick was always Bright, always made us smile, and most of all he was someone we all looked up to.

We love you and God bless

No words can express my sadness for you, Debbie, and for all your family at this time. The vision of seeing you and Dick happily spending time together at the Collector's Choice Restaurant shortly before his sudden and tragic passing will be forever burned into my mind. What a great love you two had! May you embrace the wonderful memories of such a phenomenal husband, father and grandfather in the days ahead. My heart goes out to you all!

The light Dick brought into the lives of his family and friends shall never cease,..and in this you will find inner peace.

Debbie, I was shocked to hear about Dick. I hate to cry in front of friends. Dick and I played little league together in 1963 for Silverbow Honey. Along with brother Steve and Kye Lindbloom. I can't express my sympathy enough. Consider yourself hugged from me. Harry Renken

Dearest Debbie and family,
We lost a remarkable husband, father, friend and mentor in Dick's passing. We cherish your friendship and have missed our many impromptu dinners and gatherings since we left Margaritaville and moved to the "boondocks". Our deepest sympathy goes out to you, your wonderful family and the many friends who will sorely miss Dick's generosity and calming demeanor. We will always be there for you. With all our love,
