David L "Larry" Evans
March 23, 1940 - April 14, 2013
Lifelong Resident of Alameda
Larry Evans passed away at the Emeryville Fishing Marina on April 14, 2013. Father of David J. Evans (Nicole) of Lakewood, CA, Grandfather of Haley and Kylie. Son of Bernadine Evans of Alameda and the late James T. Evans. Brother of Jim Evans (Daph), Doug Evans (Fran) all of of Alameda and the late Duane Evans. Nephew of Agnes Haworth of Alameda. He was the proprietor of Grand St. Bait and Tackle in Alameda. Larry was famous for his brand of garlic noodles. Larry had an annual fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas with his buddies. During Crab season Larry did all of the cooking of the fresh crabs at the Emeryville pier. Larry was a 1958 graduate of Encinal High School. Larry enlisted in the US Army after graduation; he was a member of the 82nd Airborne and served in Okinawa. Larry worked at various jobs including traveling sales with a hardware company but he always went back to the fishing business.
Larry lived his life to fish!!!! And was happiest when he was on the water. At his request no services will be held. For further information please call: Harry W. Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-754).
