John Finn Obituary
John J. Finn, a long time resident of West Nyack, NY, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 2, 2011 at the age of 83. John proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Princeton and USS Bennington during WWII.
John was born in NYC, the third of four children to Patrick and Julia (Morrison) Finn on April 2, 1928. John attended Cardinal Hayes HS and Manhattan College, earning a degree in finance. In the early 40's he was a golden glove finalist at Madison Square Garden.
John married the love of his life, Phoebe Bristol in 1951. They were happily married for 60 years.
In addition to spending time with his family, John loved history, nature, boating, racing in regattas, reading and technology. His love for computers and technology was as big as the day is long and kept him sharp until the end. He was also an officer at the Nyack Boat Club.
John is survived by his loving wife Phoebe, his daughters Diane Rose (Richard), Carol Finn, Susan Verrico (Ernest) and Nancy DeNapoli (Robert). Brother James Finn and wife Geraldine. Grandchildren Tracy Marta, Travis J. May, Suzanne Penn (Scott), Daniel May, Joseph Verrico, Thomas Verrico and Christine Rose. Great grandchildren Peter and Jack Marta and Hailey Penn.
Family and friends may call Sunday December 4, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. 728 West Nyack Rd. West Nyack, Ny 10994 (845) 358-4433 www.sorcefuneralhome.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday December 5, 2011at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Nanuet, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
